MAIDEN VOYAGE OF THE LORD OF THE HIGHLANDS ***ENCORE SHOWING***

At our March 2023 membership meeting at the National Opera Center in Manhattan, PONY Branch Vice-Chairman Pat Dacey presented a program on the maiden voyage of Hebridean Island Cruises’ LORD OF THE HIGHLANDS. The voyage from the Scottish resort town of Oban to Kyle of Lochalsh included the Caledonian Canal which opened in 1822 connecting the Scottish east coast at Inverness with the west coast at Corpach and was designed by the noted Scottish engineer Thomas Telford. Pat explored the history, design and experience of sailing on this unique vessel which was originally a Turkish ferry that underwent a three-year conversion into a luxury river cruise ship.
